3/5

Windows release on 7 Oct 2026 and Atlassian backing, against a hostile reaction to paid plans and Arc users leaving (user reviews, Oct 2026)

Verdict

Dia is a tidy Chrome-based browser for Mac and, since October 2026, Windows, with an assistant that pulls together tabs, Gmail, Slack and calendars. TechRepublic rates it best for work spread across several apps, but its agent does little clicking on the web and the AI now needs a plan from $20 a month. user reviews reaction to the August 2026 paywall was hostile, though the browser stays free without AI.

What people say

Mac users and designers praise the clean interface and the Morning Brief, but August 2026's move to paid AI plans drew an 86-comment backlash in user reviews, and the Windows launch thread in user reviews was dominated by complaints about the compulsory account and privacy policy. There are no store ratings to compare.

“the Dia browser "morning brief" blew me away this morning. wasn't merely a summary of my calendar, it incorporated and annotated ideas from others' emails about the meetings”

Press reviews

  • TechRepublic 2026-09-30

Best for cross-app work; synthesises context from Gmail, Slack, Notion and tabs rather than automating the web, with agentic browsing rated 'Limited'.

  • The Verge 2025-12-03

Dia and Comet did best at finding emails worth answering, but Dia gave only 15 minutes of a requested video transcript and none of the five AI browsers lived up to the hype.

FAQ

Is Dia free?

The browser is free but has no AI features without a plan. AI plans cost $20 or $100 a month, and new users get a 14-day trial.

Is Dia available on Windows or iPhone?

It runs on Mac and, since October 2026, Windows. There is no iPhone or Android app.

Does Dia work in the UK?

Yes. It downloads from diabrowser.com, and its privacy policy names a UK GDPR representative in London.

Does Dia use my data to train AI?

Its AI partners are barred from training on Dia data. Dia itself uses some content to improve the product by default, keeps it for 30 days and lets users turn this off in Settings.

Dia or Arc?

Both come from The Browser Company, which stopped developing Arc to build Dia. individual reviewers who prefer Arc's features say free Dia feels like an unfinished Arc.
