AI that does tasks for you
A survey for Commerce and PayPal published in June 2026 found 64% of UK online shoppers interested in AI that shops for them, but the agents on sale this autumn mostly summarise, draft and remind rather than buy. Every one of them can be steered by hidden text in a web page or email, a weakness the UK's National Cyber Security Centre says may never be fully fixed, so logins for banks and inboxes are best kept away from them. OpenAI closed its Atlas browser in August 2026 and Meta's Muse agent is not sold in the UK.

Kenning's picks
Ranked by Kenning score out of 25. Tools scoring 12 or less are marked not recommended.
Poke
Poke is added like a contact in Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram or RCS, then reads email, sets reminders and sends a morning summary when asked. TechCrunch reports users swapped over 100 million messages with it in three months, and in June 2026 Apple made it the first AI agent on Messages for Business. Paying users in user reviews say it started forgetting automations in mid-2026, and it now belongs to the coding firm Cognition.
Best for Email and reminder help without installing another app
Dia
Dia is a tidy Chrome-based browser for Mac and, since October 2026, Windows, with an assistant that pulls together tabs, Gmail, Slack and calendars. TechRepublic rates it best for work spread across several apps, but its agent does little clicking on the web and the AI now needs a plan from $20 a month. user reviews reaction to the August 2026 paywall was hostile, though the browser stays free without AI.
Best for Mac users who want a morning briefing from email, calendar and tabs
Genspark
Genspark started as a search engine and now sells itself as an all-in-one agent for office work, with a 'Call For Me' feature that rings businesses on the user's behalf. Cybernews found it quick at structured first drafts but opaque on pricing and prone to the odd made-up fact. individual reviewers praise the slide decks and complain that credits vanish, and Trustpilot has removed fake reviews from its page and withdrawn its score.
Best for Researched slide decks and first drafts
Manus
Manus breaks a request into steps and keeps working after the app is closed, which suits research, slides and small websites more than shopping or bookings. MIT Technology Review likened it to a clever intern that cuts corners, and paying users in user reviews say credits run out fast enough that Pro feels like the free plan. Meta's takeover was blocked by Beijing in 2026 and Manus warned some user data could be deleted in the split.
Best for Research reports and slide decks handed off and collected later
Comet
Comet is a normal Chrome-style browser with Perplexity's assistant in a side panel, free on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. The Verge found it good at summarising pages and sorting email but tiring to steer on real tasks, and since September 2026 individual reviewers report that multi-step browsing now needs paid Computer credits. Security researchers have shown four separate ways a booby-trapped web page, link or calendar invite could hijack its agent.
Best for Summarising and comparing pages across several tabs
